To train and educate the people so as to give them empowerment to work and sustain their new livelihood in the changed environment and advanced technology.
 


Her Royal Highness Princess Merriam T. Kiram, widow of the late HRM Sultan Muhammad Mahakuttah A. Kiram of Sulu, through a holographic document signed by his Majesty on October 23, 1979, was given charged of all the internal and external, tangible and intangible assets of the Sultanate of Sulu.



His Majesty clearly recognize in her, her leadership qualities, mental capacities, her organizational skills, and above all, her innovative approach to challenges of all kinds. It is unfortunate that all these were proven only in the years later after he made his transition.



Needless to say, HRH Princess Merriam T. Kiram will further prove to be not solely an outstanding leader on the World stage, but also a great contributor to the good of all humankind. 




HRH RAJA MUDA MUEDZUL LAIL T. KIRAM




Crowned Prince of Sulu


HRM Sultan Jamalul Kiram II whose long reigned from 1893 to 1936 was his great grand uncle of Muedzul Lail Kiram. He was recognized worldwide for having signed several treaties of peace, trade and industry with different nations like Spain, China. Having no offspring of his own, he passed-on-his crowned and authority to his youngest brother, HRM Al-Marhum Sultan Mawallil Wasit Kiram who reigned from 1930 to 1949, whose son Al-Marhum Sultan Esmail Kiram took over in 1950 and became the 33rd Sultan of Sulu.


HRM Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Mahakuttah Kiram, 34th Sultan of Sulu was the last recognized Sultan by the Philippine Government. He was installed as the 34th Sultan of Sulu in a public coronation on May 24, 1974 under Memorandum Order 427. In the same event Datu Muedzul Lail Kiram was proclaimed as Raja Muda (Crowned Prince) as he stood beside his father.


HRH Raja Muda Muedzul Lail Kiram was born on 28th of August 1966 in Jolo Sulu. He is the eldest son of HRM Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Mahakuttah Kiram and the grandson of the 33rd Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo. HRM Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Esmail E. Kiram I reigned from 1950 to 1973 who signed the Aide Memoir 1962 authorizing the Philippine Government to claim Sabah in behalf of the heirs of the Sultanate of Sulu, during the presidency of President Diosdado Macapagal. This entitled the Philippine Government with the countries concerned for nine (9) consecutive years. At the end of this period, no agreement is reached, the “Aide Memoir” is NULL AND VOID.

· His mother Dayang –Dayang Farida Tan Kiram, half Tausug and half Chinese was the first wife of his father, Sultan Al-Marhum Mahakuttah Kiram.

·  HRH Princess Merriam Tanglao-Kiram (Princess of the South) was the second wife of his father, Sultan Al-Marhum Marhum Mahakuttah Kiram.

·  All together HRM Al-marhum Sultan Muhammad Mahakuttah A. Kiram, 34th Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo had seven children:

2. Dayang-Dayang Dinwasa T. Kiram Delos Santos

3. Raja Muda Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram

4. Datu Yldon Tan Kiram

5. Dayang-Dayang Nur Mahal T. Kiram

6. Dayang-Dayang Ayesha T. Kiram

7. Dayang-Dayang Tanya Rowena T. Kiram-Tahil

·  HRH Raja Muda Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram is married with HRH Dayang-Dayang Mellany S. Kiram and they have seven children:

1. Raja Muda Moh. Ehasn S. Kiram

2. Datu Nizamuddin S. Kiram

3. Dayang-Dayang Rahela S. Kiram

4. Datu Jihad S. Kiram

5. Datu Mujahid S. Kiram

6. Dayang-dayang Redha S. Kiram

7. Datu Mahakuttah S. Kiram

·  HRH Raja Muda Muedzul Lail T. Kiram has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from AE College, Zamboanga City. He also went into higher studies in Islam in Lahore, Pakistan in 1995-1996. HRH has served the local community as a Government official or as a civil society leader in the Province of Sulu.
